So, of course, I had an accident. Not in Kuta, but the next time I rented a car, in Bali car rental. I was backing the cute, red Mazda 3 out of a parking lot in city when I clipped the bumper of a passing car.
My State Farm agent said my auto policy would cover the $1,200 in repairs, and MasterCard said it would pay my deductible. I figured everything was taken care of. But a couple of weeks later, I got a bill from a company called Subrogation Management Team. I owed $282.32 in administrative fees and "loss of use" for the car I had damaged — more than three times the amount I had paid to rent it in the first place.
